Coming Clean About Astrology

There are some problems with astrology. I can’t deny it. Astrology has been a controversial topic for centuries, with many people either believing in its accuracy or dismissing it as nonsense. Now, before you grab your pitchforks and comment fingers, hear me out. I’m not trying to invalidate anyone’s beliefs or readings. I just want to shed some light on the truth.

Yes there are problems with Astrology. When it comes to a “hard truth” about Astrology I’d say one thing is for sure:

astrology is an art of interpretation that requires education, just like poetry and music and not a science

Many people only “believe” in astrology when it tells them what they want to hear, but the truth is, it’s not always that simple.

In this post, I’ll dive into the hard truths of astrology and the differences between it and astronomy. We’ll also explore the importance of education when it comes to astrology and why astrology is not just a matter of belief.

The Art of Interpretation

One of the problems of Astrology that I see is that it is an art of interpretation, like poetry and music. It’s NOT astronomy or anything like Astronomy. Astrology ain’t no Science! Get that out of your head.

People who have learned about astrology have a certain intuition when it comes to reading a birth chart, much like we have intuition when it comes to recognizing a well-written poem or a harmonious song.

Initiation Problems with Astrology

However, just like poetry and music, astrology requires initiation. Without proper education, apprenticeship, and training in the art. Without this training, a birth chart can tell you absolutely nothing. That’s why it’s essential to educate yourself about the basics of astrology, including planets, houses, aspects, and signs. Most people are simply just regurgitating what they read in the likes of Astrology updates but in truth its far more like Tarot than anything else.

This brings me to…

Pop Astrology and its Impact on the Community

In recent years, the trend of “pop astrology” has emerged, with individuals taking advantage of astrology for their own gain. These people get defensive when they’re told that their approach is toxic, claiming that their hate posts are just for fun. However, the reality is that the posts that get more interaction and clout are the negative ones, while the educational posts (houses, signs, other branches of astrology, etc.) barely receive any attention.

This approach to astrology is damaging the credibility of the community, with people being misled into thinking that astrology is just a matter of generalizing people based on their zodiac signs. In reality, astrology is much more complicated than that, and it’s essential to understand that natal aspects don’t play out the same way for everyone.

The dangers of pop astrology are particularly evident in online communities, where people are quick to give unsolicited advice based on their own experiences. This can lead people down the wrong path and have negative consequences on their relationships and mental health.

Important to Understand!
Astrology is not a replacement for therapy or mental health treatment. While astrology can provide a deeper understanding of one's emotions and behavior patterns, it should not be used as a substitute for professional help.

Possible negative Consequences of Astrology

I call this “Cookie Cutter” astrology.

Astrology should not be used to stereotype or judge individuals. Each person is unique and complex, and their birth chart should not be used to make blanket statements about their character. It is important to approach astrology with an open mind and a non-judgmental attitude, using it as a tool for self-discovery and growth, rather than a means of categorizing or labeling individuals.

The Unpopular Truth About Better and Worse Birth Charts

Astrology is often portrayed as a tool for self-discovery and growth, but let’s be real, there are better and worse birth charts. I see this as one of the resounding problems with astrology. Yes, it may be considered an unpopular opinion, but it’s time to acknowledge the truth. While every zodiac sign has its own unique set of qualities, both positive and negative, some charts are more challenging than others.

It’s not to say that having a chart with a lot of squares or oppositions is a death sentence. However, these aspects can indicate that a person may face more difficulties and hardships in life than others. This doesn’t mean they’re doomed, but rather, it’s a reflection of their soul contract. The birth chart mirrors the life events that a person will experience in this lifetime.

So, why do we continue to pretend that better and worse charts don’t exist? It’s time to have an open and honest discussion about the realities of astrology. Everyone’s birth chart is unique, and some may have a more difficult time in this lifetime than others. But that’s okay. Embracing the truth about our charts and the challenges they may bring can help us navigate life with more understanding and compassion.

The Immaterial Nature of Modern Astrology

Modern astrology primarily focuses on the immaterial, ill-defined, and subjective aspects.. Instead of relying on the chart itself and astrological techniques, the astrologer co-creates a reality with the client through a feedback loop. This means that the astrologer defines the “moods” and “energies” and what they mean for the client. But here’s the catch, modern astrology lacks internal consistency.

No set definitions or systems exist; only a general consensus on common symbols exists.. This leads to a variety of interpretations that are indistinguishable from one another. As a result, many modern astrologers don’t have a solid understanding of the basic astronomical principles that inform astrology, such as the zodiacal motion or the ecliptic.

So, what is modern astrology really? We like to think of it as a language or counseling framework (Like Tarot). It helps people navigate their lives and express their views on the world around them. But the problem is, it’s presented as something it’s not. There’s no internal consistency to be found, and yet, practitioners argue over which house systems or zodiacs are better. The birth moment, chart, and philosophy behind it are all disregarded. But, here’s the thing. Astrology was never intended for everyone. It’s not compatible with everyone’s beliefs or interests, and it often requires support from other practices to be effective.

The Lack of Internal Consistency

Many early modern astrologers were psychologists. This meant that their understanding of astrology was informed by their expertise in psychology, sociology, and counseling. Early modern astrologers like Carl Jung saw astrology as an expression of archetypes in the collective unconscious. He combined psychology, sociology, and counseling in their understanding of astrology. This integration of disciplines contributed to astrology’s evolution as a tool for self-discovery and personal growth. The connection between astrology and psychology remains a topic of debate and exploration in modern times.

So, there you have it. The hard truth about modern astrology. We hope this opens the door to more nuanced discussions on the topic and allows you to see where our community stands on this controversial issue.

Astrology was Never intended for everyone

Finally,

In conclusion, the hard truths of astrology are that it’s not just a matter of believing. It is a matter of education and interpretation. Astrology requires initiation and understanding of the basics, just like poetry and music. Pop astrology is damaging the credibility of the community. Therefore it’s essential to educate ourselves and approach astrology with a critical and open mind.

So, if you’re interested in astrology, take the time to educate yourself, starting with the basics and working your way up. There are plenty of resources available online, including Cafeastrology, Astrology King, and YouTube channels like Soul Navigation, Puro Astrology, and Conversation & Constellation (Novi Brown). Joining astrology servers is also a great way to connect with like-minded individuals and learn from their experiences.
